Planetary Gearboxes for Industrial Motion Systems
Precision planetary gearboxes are commonly evaluated where servo motors or controlled motion systems require a mechanical reduction stage between the motor and driven equipment. Typical enquiries include industrial automation, CNC machine tools, robotic motion, packaging machinery, material handling, printing and converting equipment, positioning systems and special-purpose machinery.
Selection Starts With the Load – Not the Model Code
A planetary gearbox should not be selected from nominal torque alone. Define output speed, continuous torque, acceleration or peak torque, operating cycle, positioning requirement, motor characteristics and installation space before narrowing the gearbox family.
Then review output-side radial and axial load with the actual force position. For pulleys, pinions, belts, couplings and other overhung loads, the force and its distance from the gearbox should be considered together. Final sizing should use the exact series, frame and stage data.
Manufacturing Process Visibility
Gear machining, housing machining, shaft processing, assembly preparation and related production steps influence the final mechanical interface and transmission behaviour.
For projects with specific material, processing or inspection requirements, state them during the RFQ stage so the ordered configuration can be reviewed accordingly.
Inspection Before Integration
Product identification should be connected to the actual motor and machine interface before installation. Dimensional checks and component inspection help relate the selected catalogue configuration to the real assembly.
Critical interface dimensions and project-specific acceptance criteria should be stated on the purchase drawing or order specification, especially for replacement projects.
SELECTION PATH
Start With the Machine Layout
Many buyers do not begin with a BAB, BADR or BPG series code. Start with the mechanical arrangement, then narrow the stage, ratio, load and motor interface before checking an exact model.
Inline / Coaxial
Use an inline architecture when the motor and gearbox output can share the same general axis and the machine layout allows a straight drive arrangement.
Right Angle / 90 Degree
A right-angle arrangement helps when motor length must be moved away from the output axis or the machine envelope requires a 90-degree transmission path.
Round Flange
Round-flange configurations provide another mechanical interface option for equipment where mounting geometry is a primary selection constraint.
Stage & Ratio
After the mechanical architecture is defined, verify the required stage and exact catalogue ratio rather than relying on a broad family range.
MOTOR & MACHINE INTERFACE
Check the Motor Interface Before Installation
A suitable gearbox ratio does not automatically mean that the gearbox will physically match the selected servo motor. Motor flange dimensions, pilot diameter, shaft diameter, shaft length, input adapter and mounting geometry should be reviewed as one interface.
Machine-side output mounting and available installation space should also be checked before the final order. When replacing an existing gearbox, provide the current gearbox model and dimension drawing whenever possible.
Interface dimensions should be verified rather than assumed from a similar model number.

Standard parts use a quantity MOQ; high-value or large items are evaluated by order value. New-client samples of 1–5 pcs may be quoted at sample price. Multiple models can be combined toward USD 1,500. Special materials and processes follow process MOQ. 1–2-piece retail orders are not accepted.
